FYEX 105 (053) - Greg Pryor (Livingston) In-Person

Comprehensive intro to all library services, including library database searching, how to use various library services, etc.

On-Site Face-to-Face 2:20 pm - 3:45 pm R Livingston Center 213

Hey, Jim,

On reflection, I'm thinking that today might not be the best day for the students to get library instruction.  Attendance in my early section this morning was 'way off, and I think that is partly due to the students' natural desire to start Fall Break early and partly due to the fact that we had a power failure that affected the town of Livingston (not Vol State) this morning.  I don't want you to drive all the way up here for nothing if my attendance in the afternoon is sparse as well (which I anticipate it will be.)

Would you be offended if we rescheduled for October 23?  The last day of my FYEX course is October 30 (it's a ten-week section), and I'm trying to balance two disparate needs as the term draws to a close:

  1. The students need to know how to use library resources for their final projects in their full-term classes, and

  2. They need to get advising help for early registration for the spring, which begins on November 3.

If you can come on 10/23 and give them library instruction, then I will cover the advising issue on 10/30, and together, we will launch them into the fall endgame and then onto the spring term with a good boost.

Greg

P.S.  This will also let me read the riot act to them about the absolute necessity of showing up in person on those days, which - it appears - will likely be necessary at that point.
